In honor of Jo and Holt Hickman's contributions to Fort Worth and their commitment to philanthropy, social progress, and preservation, the Texas Cowboy Hall of Fame & Museum is proud to introduce the Jo & Holt Hickman Legacy Awards, which will be presented annually to two outstanding individuals or entities committed to Preservation, Western Heritage, Community Impact and Entrepreneurial Spirit - reflecting the pioneering spirit of Jo and Holt Hickman.

Holt Hickman became a legendary figure in Fort Worth business circles and spearheaded the revitalization of the Fort Worth Stockyards.  As founder and chairman of the board of Hickman Companies, he put an indelible stamp on Fort Worth and its cultural heritage. In addition to the Stockyards, he was instrumental in the business and renovation of Historic Camp Bowie and the far South Side of Fort Worth.  Among his many honors, he was named Outstanding Business Executive - Fort Worth Business Hall of Fame in 2000 and was presented the Golden Deeds Award in 2006. Today, the Stockyards are Fort Worth's No. 1 attraction, drawing millions of visitors from around the world who leave with their own magical memories. This success is a testament to Holt and Jo Hickman's vision and dedication.  Holt passed away in 2014.

Jo Hickman was Holt's high school sweetheart and devoted partner.  She played an integral role in his life and endeavors. Meeting at 16 and marrying after college, Jo and Holt shared a journey of love, family, and mutual support. Together, they nurtured a family and built a legacy that extends beyond business into philanthropy and community service.

Jo encouraged and supported Holt in purchasing the Sterquell Wagon Collection, moving the Texas Cowboy Hall of Fame, and renovating the Fort Worth Stockyards. She continues the family legacy with impactful gifts to area non-profits, including the Jo and Holt Hickman Center for ACH Child and Family Services.

The Inaugural Jo and Holt Hickman Legacy Awards Luncheon will be held on Tuesday, September 17, at Hotel Drover.  Make plans to celebrate the 2024 recipients and to honor Jo and Holt Hickman and their enduring legacy.
